It is common practice amongst Muslims to eat with our hands. As a matter of fact, the Prophet (saw) used to do it. But, another Sunnah of the Prophet (saw) is to be clean. After he (saw) would finish eating, he would lick his fingers clean of the food. Alhmadullilah, Allah (swt) has also blessed us with additional ways we can clean ourselves.

To keep this simple, after you eat and before you pray…wash your hands. This may seem trivial and perhaps even stupid to a certain extent. Yet, if this is done with the intention to please Allah (swt) and to follow the sunnah of being clean that the Prophet (saw) left us with—then Insha’Allah, we can earn hasanat (reward) for this easy and simple action.
